Selection Criteria for the Coordinator of the General Education Program

The following criteria are required:

  1. Full-time tenured or full-time tenure-track faculty member
  2. Knowledge of and commitment to the principles of general education
  3. Openness to the varying perspectives of students, faculty, and administrators about the General Education program at Millersville
  4. Effective communication and leadership skills

The following criterion is preferred:

  1. Knowledge of assessment processes and practices

Selection Process for the Coorindator of the General Education Program

  1. A Subcommittee of the GERC will be elected to recruit applicants, review applications, interview those individuals they feel are most qualified and make a final recommendation to the Provost regarding the position.
  2. Recruitment will take place through an open announcement mailed to all MU faculty and through a targeted campaign in which possible candidates deemed by the Selection Subcommittee as especially well suited to the task will be contacted by the Subcommittee and encouraged to apply.
  3. Applicants will be asked to submit a curriculum vitae and a letter of interest that highlights how they fit the selection criteria specified above.
