Higher Standards and More Requirements
3. Higher Standards and More Requirements--Many revised general education
curricula require a greater number of hours in the core and dictate more than
the introductory courses.
It is clear that Millersville University has instituted higher standards in
English composition, by requiring a freshman year composition course, an
advanced composition course, and four writing courses. The requirement of a
QARC course indicates higher standards in the area of mathematics. The
additional requirement of four courses at the 200 level or above also
stresses higher-level standards.
