APPROVAL OF FACULTY SENATE CURRICULAR RECOMMENDATIONS
As the President's designee, I am informing you of the approval of the
following Faculty Senate Curricular Actions:
1. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on March 18, 1997
--New Option: BS in Mathematics, Option in Applied Mathematics
(43-44 credits in major field; 18-21 required related credits)
Approved, effective Fall 1997.
2. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on April 1, 1997
COMMENT: Upon successful completion of both BIOL HNRS 212 and
BIOL 211, a student will earn 5 credits to be counted as one course
in the G2 block. BIOL HNRS 212 may not be used independently to fulfill a
G2 requirement. The prerequisites for BIOL HNRS 212 are: 1) completion of
BIOL 211 with a grade of A or B, and 2) member of University Honors
Program or 3.35 QPA or instructor's permission.
3. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on April 15, 1997
--New Option: BS in Chemistry, Option in Environmental
Chemistry
Approved, effective Fall 1997.
COMMENT: The school dean will monitor enrollments in the Environmental
Chemistry option to assess whether the department's faculty/student ratio
is being affected.
4. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on June 19, 1997
COMMENT: This course is a merger of CHEM 371 Polymer Chemistry (3
credits) and CHEM 381 Polymer Chemistry Laboratory (1 credit), both of
which should be deleted from the undergraduate catalog effective
FA97.
COMMENT: This course replaces CHEM 437 Organic Qualitative Analysis,
which should be deleted from the undergraduate catalog effective FA97
MATH 471 Mathematical Modeling (3 credits, non-gen ed)
Approved, effective Spring 1998.
