SUBJECT:
APPROVAL OF FACULTY SENATE CURRICULAR RECOMMENDATIONS
As the President's designee, I am informing you of the approval of the
following Faculty Senate Curricular actions:
1. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on September 3, 1996.
--ESCI241 Meteorology: deletion of all general education
labels, effective Fall 1997.
Approved.
2. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on November 5, 1996.
--ESCI104/105 (The World Ocean/World Ocean Laboratory) and
ESCI107/108 (The Atmosphere/Atmosphere Laboratory) counting in General
Education block G2 effective Spring 1997.
Approved.
COMMENTS: The purpose of this clarification is to ensure that the
two 4-credit combinations (ESCI104/105 and ESCI107/108) each count as only
one course for the purposes of General Education requirements,
specifically, the requirement of two courses from one department in block
G2.
The school dean will notify faculty teaching these courses that
they are to provide written notification of this change to students
enrolled in ESCI 104/105 or 107/108 at the start of Spring 1997
semester.
