As the President's designee, I am informing you of the approval of the following Faculty Senate Curricular Actions:

Faculty Senate actions at meeting on November 4, 1997

EDFN 590 Social Foundations of Education

COMMENT: Based on consultation between Dr. Berhow and the Educational Foundations Department, the words "Topics in" was deleted from the course title because it might be confusing to students. Traditionally topics courses have variable titles and can be repeated for credit. EDFN will address the same topics every semester and may be taken only once.

EDFN 606 Childhood and Youth in America: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives

ENGL 416 The Woman Writer and Her World

ENGL 418 Literature of Scotland and Ireland

SPED 433 Current Issues and Trends in Special Education

Grade minimum for University Honors Program of B-

Grade minimum of Departmental Honors Thesis/Project of B-

COMMENT: The Acting Provost will remind deans to notify department chairs of the procedure for requesting a minimum grade of B rather than B- in Departmental Honors, similar to our simplified procedure for requiring a C rather than a C- in other departmental policies.

Course and Modification Policies: Course and/or Program Changes Procedures

COMMENT: The last sentence in the Governance manual text in Attachment #4, p. 4320 of the Faculty Senate minutes regarding "Unresolved questions" should be deleted to comply with the intent of the amendment.
