As the President's designee, I am informing you of the approval of the
following Faculty Senate Curricular Actions:
1. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on October 5, 1999
Amendment to Governance Manual: Section 3 Academic Standards,
Probation and Dismissal, Paragraph 2, Second Sentence
While on probation, students are not allowed to pre-register (register)
for winter and/or pre-summer sessions, unless they have the permission of
their academic advisor or his/her designee.
Approved, effective Fall 2000
2. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on October 19, 1999
New Undergraduate Course:
THEA 220 Advanced Lighting and Sound
(3 credits, elective course in Theatre option of the major)
Approved, effective Fall 2000

Studies Minor)
Pre-requisites are: ENGL 313 and (enrolled in the Print Media Studies Minor or
Permission of Department)

Changes in Pre-requisites:
MATH 160 - PreCalculus
Change pre-requisites to
Math Placement Testing/Evaluation
and
1) two years of high school algebra, one year of high school
geometry/trigonometry
or
2) Grade of C- or better in both MATH 101 and MATH 110
Currently there are no listed pre-requisites for this course.

COMMENT: This complex pre-requisite is not enforceable in an automated
registration system.
5. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on December 7, 1999
Changes in Courses/Curricula:
ECON 365 - History of Economic Thought
ECON 365H - History of Economic Thought (Honors)
Add G3 designation to both courses
Approved, effective Fall 1999
COMMENT: The honors course was offered in Fall 1999 and will be given the G3
label retroactively. The non-honors section has not been offered since Fall
1997 and will first have the G3 label the next time it is offered.

B.A. in Political Science
a) Add three courses (9 credits) to the required course block:
i. PSCI 221 Comparative Politics
ii. PSCI 231 Classics in Political Thought
iii. PSCI 251 International Relations
iv. And delete the sentence "Students must take …" under Required
Political Science
b) Simplify the Required Related Block to:
"Completion of any university-approved minor (18 credits)"

COMMENT: Retroactive approval to Fall 1999 is granted since incoming students
in fall had been given the revised curriculum as their requirements.
