As the President's designee, I am informing you of the approval of the
following Faculty Senate Curricular Actions:
1. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on May 2, 2000
New Undergraduate Course:
ART 327 - Art for the Exceptional Child
- 3 credits
- Elective for Special Education, Elementary Education, Art Educ. majors
- Renumbered from ART 127
COMMENT: This course, under the number ART 127, was part of the curriculum in
the late 1980s but has been missing from the printed catalog since than,
possibly due to an oversight. However, it has continued as part of the
computerized catalog and has been offered several times, most recently in
spring 1999 and fall 2000. The renumbering more accurately reflects the level
of the course.

2. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on April 18, 2000
Changes in Courses/Curricula:
Restructure the Art History Minor
COMMENT: This change will clarify which courses in the Art Department count
towards the Art History Minor and provide a choice of appropriate courses from
a list of nine courses. Details of this change are as indicated on the
attached curriculum sheet.

Restructure the Studio Art Minor
COMMENT: This change will clarify which courses in the Art Department count
towards the Studio Art Minor, provide a choice of appropriate courses from a
long list of art history and studio art courses, and also provide for 6
credits of free Art electives Details of this change are as indicated on the
attached curriculum sheet.

Create a Teacher Certification Option for the Bachelor of Fine
Arts
- This option is a 153 credit, 5-year program
- 78 credits of ART is required
- 18 credits in the Core Foundation
- 6 credits of Art History
- 3 credits in Aesthetics
- 18 credits of Studio Art in at least 6 of 7 studio areas
- 15 credits in a Concentration
- 3 credits, ART 490
- 15 credits of Art Education courses
- 21 credits of professional education is required
- General Education, Required Related courses in PSYC and MATH

Re-instate Undergraduate Course:
Art 490, Professional Seminar and Exhibition
- 3 credits
- Pre-req. is senior standing (90 credits earned)
COMMENT: This course will be a required course in the B.F.A program and the
new certification option within the B.F.A. Important requirement that will
bring formality and quality control to the senior portfolio experience.

additional course which is a second level studio class (i.e. Painting II,
Ceramics II.)

- 12 credits of Required Related courses
