SUBJECT: CLARIFICATION REGARDING THE APRIL 7, 2003, APPROVAL OF FACULTY SENATE CURRICULAR RECOMMENDATIONS

Faculty Senate action at March 4, 2003, meeting:

Last spring 2003, the Elementary Education, Early Childhood option inadvertently went through the academic curricular changes process with the Elementary Education Major, and Science Option placing these programs in compliance with the Board of Governor's policy regarding the requirement that baccalaureate degrees require a 120-credit maximum for graduation. Since the Elementary Education, Early Childhood option is actually dual certification in both Elementary Education and Early Childhood; the degree program is exempt from the Board of Governor's policy. The program's overall total required credits for graduation stay at 124. The only change effective fall 2003 for the Elementary Education and Early Childhood dual certification program is the addition of ELED 376 - Assessment for Instructional Planning, approved April 7, 2003.
