Re: Faculty Emeritus Status for Dr. Ronald M. Benson

WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson provided thirty-one years of dedicated service to the university, and
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson was a valued colleague and participant in the History department governance, and
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson was instrumental in curriculum development in the Schools of Social Sciences and Humanities
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson faithfully taught thousands of students in the Commonwealth, and
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson was a member of the MU-APSCUF, taking an active role in Representative Council and other APSCUF committees, and
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson took an active role in faculty governance through his participation in the Faculty Senate, and
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson played an important role in the development of the University'e Pre-Law program, the History Club, and the Social Science Honorary Society, and
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson was active throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in promoting an understanding of the state's labor history and economic development, and
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson made numerous presentations before state and regional professional historical societies, and
WHEREAS Dr. Ronald M. Benson published several journal articles and scholarly reviews in his field of research,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the Department of History recommends that Dr. Ronald M. Benson be granted the honorary title of Professor of History Emeritus.
