Subject: | Resolution for Emeritus status for Dr. Rodrigo Solera, Professor of Spanish |
Whereas Dr Rodrigo Solera served the department of Foreign Languages and Millersville University for 32 years, from 1970 to 2002; and
Whereas Dr. Rodrigo Solera diligently performed his classroom duties and shared with his students his extraordinary knowledge of Spanish American literatures and civilizations; and
Whereas Dr. Solera, even before he became a regular faculty member, as a part-time instructor in the summer of 1968, helped the department start a highly successful summer graduate program in Spanish, in which he himself taught until his retirement, and of which he was director for 15 years; and
Whereas Dr. Solera represented the department for many years as a senator, graduate studies coordinator and APSCUF representative; and
Whereas Dr. Solera always kept close ties to his native country, the Republic of Costa Rica, which he represented in Pennsylvania as a honorary Consul from 1970 to 1982; and
Whereas Dr. Solera was an esteemed and courteous colleague, and a teacher who inspired loyalty and admiration in his students;
Therefore be it resolved that Dr. Rodrigo Solera, upon the unanimous recommendation from the department of Foreign Languages, be granted the honorary title of Professor of Spanish Emeritus.
