FACULTY EMERITUS STATUS
Dr. Karen L. Black
-Whereas Dr. Karen L. Black faithfully and diligently performed her duties as a classroom instructor and student advisor;
-Whereas she with considerable imagination and creativity organized a Perspectives course in Russian folk culture which has kept student interest alive in the subject matter despite the program's being placed in moratorium;
-Whereas as a felicitous and congenial colleague she spearheaded many of the efforts vital to the everyday workings of the Foreign Languages Department (student handbook, survey of incoming freshmen, manuals for the in-service conference and Media Center, etc.);
-Whereas she assumed a leadership position in PAFLD (Pennsylvania Association of Foreign Languages Departments) where she most ably represented Millersville as well as the interests of our department and students;
-Whereas she shared her love of Russian culture and language with the community by participating in the People-to-People Exchange that brought citizens from the former Soviet Republics to the U.S.;
-Whereas she was a diligent and faithful adviser to scores of undecided students;
