Nomination for Emeritus Status for Dr. David T. Risser
Department of Government and Political Affairs

WHEREAS David T. Risser, Associate Professor of Government and Political Affairs, retired May 24, 2004, after nineteen years on the faculty of Millersville University; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser admirably performed his duties as a classroom instructor and student adviser; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser was mentor to numerous students, constantly challenging and encouraging them in pursuit of their academic and professional achievements; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser served the Department of Government and Political Affairs in a variety of leadership positions, most notably as chairperson from 1992 until 1998; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser was deeply committed to the academic integrity of the Department of Government and Political Affairs and Millersville University; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser served on numerous departmental and university committees, where he could always be counted on to make worthwhile contributions on weighty matters; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser was faculty adviser for the Political Science Organization and Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science Honor Society, for over a decade; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser took Millersville University students to Europe on multiple occasions and was a consistent supporter of international courses abroad; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser published dozens of articles, chapters, and books in the field of political theory; and

WHEREAS David T. Risser was a valuable, trustworthy, congenial, and devoted departmental colleague, who will be missed;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that David T. Risser be granted the honorary title of Associate Professor of Government and Political Affairs Emeritus.
