President McNairy noted that while the Governor has recommended a 3.5% budget increase for PASSHE, it is not known what amount might be approved by the legislature. She further indicated that this may not be resolved by July 1, making it necessary for the Board of Governors to make a decision regarding tuition. Dr. McNairy also noted several items relating to public scrutiny of PASSHE schools. She pointed out several newspaper reports focusing on state employees earning 6-figure salaries, including numerous PASSHE faculty and staff. In addition, Senator Gib Armstrong has established a website offering rewards for persons suggesting ways to cut spending at Millersville University.
Dr. McNairy reported that candidates for Vice President of Student Affairs will be on campus soon. She also commended Earth Sciences student Daniel Eipper on being selected to receive a scholarship from the PASSHE Board of Governors.
Senator Blazer commented that the Faculty and APSCUF should not tolerate faculty members not meeting their professional responsibilities.
Provost
Provost Prabhu noted that searches for Assistant Vice President for Planning and Assessment, Associate Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences and Director of Business Studies appear to be coming to a close. Dr. Prabhu also reminded faculty that April 10 & 11 are make-up days to be used only for classes missed due to inclement weather. He stressed that classes should meet only at their regularly scheduled time.
