COMM 440: Leadership and Media, 3 credits. Proposal to offer a course focused on understanding the relationship between communication and leadership was approved without dissent.
(2) NEW UNDERGRADUATE COURSE
GEOG 407: Global Environmental Policy and Negotiation, 3 credits, G3, W. Proposal to offer a course to examine the relationship of global political and economic forces and environmental change was approved without dissent.
(3) CHANGE TO UNDERGRADUATE COURSE
ESCI 441: Synoptic Meteorology Lecture-Laboratory, 3 credits. Proposal to revise the title, catalog description, contact hour distribution, and prerequisites was approved without dissent.

MUSI BA: Music Business & Technology option. Proposal to rename and renumber MUSI 191, MUSI 192 and MUSI 204 courses was approved without dissent.

President McNairy noted that the presence of faculty at commencement is appreciated by the graduates. She announced plans for a Day of Advocacy and work with others across PASSHE to develop plans for effectively representing PASSHE and education needs to the legislature. Dr. McNairy reminded faculty of a reception in honor of Dr. Thomas Burns and thanked him for serving MU well as Associate Provost. Dr. Börger-Greco also expressed appreciation for Dr. Burns’ diligent work with Senate.
Associate Provost for Academic Administration
Associate Provost Burns shared a list of new articulations with Cecil College of Maryland in the areas of nursing, earth sciences, physics, and chemistry and encouraged other fields to pursue similar articulations. [see Attachment #1] Dr. Burns noted low representation of retired faculty and staff on the page maintained by Faculty Senate and suggested other formats of recognition be considered. Several persons expressed interest in having access to information from the Wabash Study. Dr. Burns indicated that requests for specific details could be directed to Dr. Shibley and that seven key points from the study will be brought forward for discussion or integrated into work of AOAC or CAE on campus.
VII. Reports of the Faculty Senate Standing Committees
Senator Smith noted appreciation for Dr. Burns’ work with UCPRC. She also announced a new process for reviewing the addition of a W label to existing courses. Proposers will only need to present to the W sub-committee but will still have the option to present to the entire UCPRC.
