Held series of open discussion sessions on the topic of implementing an Honors College.
Reviewed report of consultant Dr. William Mech, Dean of the Honors College at Florida Atlantic University. Submitted proposal to establish honors college and a vision statement for the honors college to the Provost. These documents were shared with Faculty Senate, with Deans' Council, and with PAC. Reviewed applications and selected two students to participate in the 2000 SSHE Summer Honors Program, sponsored by Edinboro University and including travel to Edinburgh, Scotland, covering issues of the Scottish Enlightenment. Selected students to be recognized as outstanding Sophomore/Junior Honors Student at the annual University Honors Program Banquet held April 27, 2000. Approved granting of research funds to five students who had applied for Summer Student Research grants. Revised application form for summer research stipends. Dr. Richard Glenn was elected by Faculty Senate to serve as the next Chair of the University Honors Program Committee. Matters currently in committee:
