APPROVAL OF FACULTY SENATE CURRICULAR RECOMMENDATIONS
As the President's designee, I am informing you of the approval of the
following Faculty Senate Curricular Actions:
1. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on February 17, 1998
Governance Manual:
--Definition of "Major QPA"
COMMENT: Deans' Council discussed the revised text and will be suggesting
a change in the language. Associate Provost Stager will explain this
recommendation at a Faculty Senate meeting in the fall.
2. Faculty Senate actions at meeting on May 5, 1998
New Option:
--B.S. Chemistry, Option in Polymer Chemistry (125 credits
minimum)
Approved, effective Fall 1998
--ESCI 447 Meteorological Instrumentation, Measurement, and
Observing Systems (3 credits, Writing course)
Approved, effective Fall 1999
COMMENT: The "W" label is approved retroactively to include students who
took this course as ESCI 390 Topics in Earth Sciences, Meteorological
Observing Systems during the FA97 semester, and for ESCI 390
Meteorological Instruments, offered SP95.
Changes in Course and Curricula:
--Course number for BIOL 209 changing to BIOL 327 Horticultural
Science (3 credits, non-gen ed)
--Changes in all options of Biology major which include the Plant
Block, except the Ecology option
Approved, effective Fall 1998
COMMENT: Includes change in course prerequisite to "BIOL 221 or
permission."
