APPROVAL OF FACULTY SENATE CURRICULAR RECOMMENDATIONS |
As the President's designee, I am informing you of the approval of the
following Faculty Senate Curricular Actions:
Faculty Senate action at February 19, 2002 meeting:
New Undergraduate Course(s)
WSTU 330--Feminist Theory
- 3 credits
- Perspectives course
- Pre-requisites: ENGL 110 and 24 credits of Liberal Arts Core
courses, WSTU 220, Jr/Sr standing.
- Add as required course in Women Studies minor increasing required
course credits from 6 to 9 credits
- Decrease elective in Women Studies minor from 12 to 9 credits
- Women Studies minor program credits stays the same at 18 minimum
credits
COMMENT: To efficiently utilize the Women Studies resources, the course
might be cross-listed with the teaching faculty member's department.
Students would receive credit for the course as registered i.e. If a
student registers for the COMM 429 listing of WSTU 330/COMM 429, the
course would apply toward the student's major field requirements. Course
must be taught within existing complement

Changes in Courses/Curricula:
Admission to the Major in Biology
Current Policy
- New students (freshmen and transfers) must be admitted to the
Biology major by the Office of Admissions upon admission to the
University.
- Admission of Millersville University students to the Biology major
(from other departments or undeclared status) will require grades of C
(2.0) or better in CHEM 111, CHEM 112, and either BIOL 211 or BIOL 221, as
well as an overall GPA of 2.0.
- Non-degree and continuing education students must be admitted to
the Biology major by the Office of Admissions.
New Policy:
- New students (freshmen and transfers) must be admitted to the
Biology major by the Office of Admissions upon admission to the
University.
- Admission of Millersville University students to the Biology major
(from other departments or undeclared status) requires that the student is
in satisfactory academic standing as described in the Undergraduate
Catalog. Students who were dropped from a Biology major also must satisfy
the Biology Retention in the Major criteria before being readmitted to a
Biology major.
- Non-degree and continuing education students must be admitted to
the Biology major by the Office of Admissions.
