Faculty Senate action at October 15, 2002, meeting:
COMM 510--Communication in Organizations
Approved, effective Spring 2003
New Undergraduate Course:
GEOG 245 - Geography of Pennsylvania
Approved, effective Spring 2003
COMMENT: Course designed for the Secondary Education program; hopefully to elevate knowledge about Pennsylvania geography in training elementary and secondary teachers. Enrollment proposed at 40-45 students. It is projected that 1 or 2 sections will be offered in 3 semesters out of every 2-year period.
Changes in Courses/Curricula:
CSCI 450 - Artificial Intelligence
CSCI 380 - Operating Systems
CSCI 476 - Parallel Programming
COMMENT: Computer Science majors are required to take CSCI 140, 161, 162, 240, 270, 330, 362, 380. Required electives are 16 semester hours. CSCI 450 and CSCI 476 are two possible choices from a list of twelve courses for required electives for the Computer Science program. These additional pre-requisites do not increase requirements for Computer Science majors.

COMMENT: Dean will carefully review ENGL 347 and 484 before adding to the schedule. The University is limited on additional resources.
SOCY 310 - Sociology of Religion
COMMENT: Two sections of SOCY 310 are currently on the schedule for Spring 2003. Students currently enrolled in SOCY 310 for the Spring 2003 may be taking the course to satisfy the G3 Liberal Art Core and Writing requirements. If students wish to have the course count as a Perspectives course for Spring 2003, they may complete the Request For Exception to Graduation Requirements form, requesting the course count in Perspectives and not as a G3 and Writing requirements course. Deans are encouraged to honor students' requests. The formal implementation for the change will occur in Summer 2003.
