APPROVAL OF FACULTY SENATE CURRICULAR RECOMMENDATIONS |
As the President's designee, I am informing you of the approvals of the following
Faculty Senate Curricular Actions.
Faculty Senate actions at September 7, 2004,
meeting:
Changes in Admission to the Major Policy:
Admission to the Major Policy for the Art Department
Current Policy:
- New students (freshmen and transfers) must be admitted to the Art major by
the Office of Admissions upon admission to the University.
- Admission into the Art major from other departments is upon approval of the
chairperson or assistant chairperson of the Art Department.
- Non-degree and continuing education students must be admitted to the Art
major by the Office of Admissions.
New Policy:
- New students (freshmen and transfers) must submit a portfolio to be
reviewed by the Art Department before admission to the University.
- Admission into the Art major from other departments is upon approval of the
chairperson or assistant chairperson of the Art Department.
- Non-degree and continuing education students must be admitted to the Art
major by the Office of Admissions.
Approved, effective Fall 2006 (Fall 2005-2006 admissions recruitment year)
Faculty Senate actions at September 21, 2004,
meeting:
Undergraduate Academic Program
Proposed changes:
- Revise the Interdisciplinary Programs policy framing interdepartmental
majors and minors.
- Dissolve the following standing committees of the Faculty Senate:
- African American Studies Curriculum Committee
- International Studies Curriculum Committee
- Women's Studies Curriculum Committee
- Create an organizational structure to guide and support interdisciplinary
majors and minors, including the creation of a Council of Interdisciplinary
Directors (CID).
- Create Faculty Senate representation for the interdisciplinary programs.
COMMENT: Revisions will be made to the University Governance Manual, removing
existing policies framing the interdepartmental majors and minors and insert new
language on policies and organizational structure supporting the interdisciplinary
