Mandatory Advisement will be required for
the following groups of
currently enrolled students:

Assistance
The Office of Academic Advisement, in cooperation with
Departments with ACE programs or large numbers of part-time students, is
coordinating evening advisement hours on Monday-Thursday evenings, October
30-November 10. This is not designed to replace department initiatives, but to
support these efforts.
Faculty Development Sessions: Faculty and Staff
advisers are encouraged to attend n short (30-45 minute) workshop on the new
mandatory advisement procedures. Also covered in
this session will be a quick review of common advisement errors related to the
genera) education requirements. Please plan to attend one of the
following:
Thursday October
12 4 pm SMC Room 161
Wednesday October 18 12 noon SMC Room 161(bring lunch if
you want)
Dr. Paul Specht and Dr. Carol Phillips are also available for
meetings with small groups of faculty by department or academic building as
requested (ext. 3703). They will be meeting with the School Council, Science and
Mathematics, on October 9.

| November 20 | Registration reopens at 6 am and remains open until January 18 at 11 pm |

Checking
Prerequisite checking will be
active for Voice Registration again this fall. Please note that a new addition
is Math Placement Test Scores as part of prerequisite
checks.
Please
discuss. the new mandatory advisement requirements with students in your
classes.

Advising Sessions held on Sunday, August 27, indicate they were a huge success!
Thanks for all of your efforts in advising our new students. And, mark your
calendar for Sunday, August 26, 2001, for next year's event, which we are
planning now.
