RESOLUTION
Whereas, Mary Alien Klinedinst, Associate Professor, will retire in July, 2001, after 32 years of service to education, 13 years of which were spent here at Millersville University,
Whereas, Dr. Klinedinst taught middle and high school English in public schools for thirteen years; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst taught in and served as an assistant administrator in adult and continuing education; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst served as an elementary principal; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Educational Psychology, Curriculum and Supervision, and Foundations of Education, for the Department of Educational Foundations; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst served as coordinator of planning and then On-site Director for three years, for the first PA Governor's School for Teaching in PA and in the nation; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst served for three years as the State Director of the Pennsylvania Governor's Schools of Excellence for the PA Department of Education; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst served on Committees, was Vice President for Programs, and served two terms as President of the Millersville Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst was honored with Phi Delta Kappa's Distinguished Educator Award in Higher Education; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst was designated the 1994 Pennsylvania Department of Education's Management / Supervisory Employee of the Year; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst was honored by the PA Governor's School for the Arts with its Distinguished Service ?ward; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst served on numerous departmental, school, and university committees, examples of which were the Search for Graduate Dean, University Theme, Faculty Senate, and APSCUF; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst served as Acting Chair, then Chair of the Educational Foundations Department; and
Whereas, Professor Klinedinst serves as President of the School Board of the Jenkins Early Childhood Center and as a member of the Center for Excellence in Education, an advisory group for the PA Governor's Schools of Excellence; and
Whereas, Dr. Klinedinst led and facilitated the National Conference of Governor's Schools, at the Pittsburgh Westin William Penn, November, 1996, where participants from among thirty states' Governor's Schools Programs were in attendance; and
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That Associate Professor Mary Allen Reid Klinedinst be granted the honorary title of Associate of Educational Foundations Emerita.
