Academic Policies Committee chair R. Kerper presented the Committee=s report on the International Studies program. The Committee proposed that the International Studies Curriculum Committee be convened and a chair elected. APC also recommended that all bodies involved with interdisciplinary studies should attend a meeting discussing how such programs should be administered in keeping with the Governance Manual. A B. Stengel/B. Dorman amendment to invite to the joint meeting of curricular bodies involved in interdisciplinary studies representatives from the Gerontology and Environmental Sciences programs (and any other such programs on campus) passed. The amended proposal was postponed until the May 6 Senate meeting on a S. Luek/C. Heintzelman motion.

Students will select from one of two specialization areas within the
option--Electronics Specialization (select two courses from ITEC 363, 465,
466 or another technical elective) or Control Specialization (select two
courses from ITEC 326, 425, 427 or another technical elective).
Also will change its name from ITEC-Electronics option to
ITEC-Electronics/Control Systems option.
Desired effective date--Spring 2003.

4. CHANGES IN COURSES/CURRICULA
Name and description change for EDFN 530 (Introduction to Microcomputers
in the Classroom). Changes reflect a broadened scope for the course to
meet accreditation requirements for secondary education programs. Name
will change to Instructional Technology, Design and Assessment.
Instructional design and assessment will be used as a basis for planning
and evaluating the use of technology for student-centered teaching and
learning within specific disciplines. Students will conduct an action
research project related to assessment and use of technology in teaching.
Should be taken with Issues in Secondary Education and the Teaching
of/Methods class required in each secondary certification program. This
course is for secondary education majors only.
Desired effective date--Fall 2003.
