Schedule
See attached calender for the schedule of lectures,
in-class discussions, outside lectures and exams. The
required reading for each date is also listed. The page
numbers refer to Campbell, Biology, 5th edition and
the last names refer to articles on Reserve in MSL. (Pages
or articles in parentheses are background material that will
help you to understand the required readings.) We reserve
the right to make minor adjustments in the syllabus as the
semester progresses.
Plant and Animal development material will be covered on
Final Exam.
Required
reading
Any material listed as
requiredfor lectures
or lab may appear on the exams whether or not it has
explicitly been covered during
lecture.Biology,
Campbell, 5th edition,and
A Short Guide to Writing About Biology, Pechenik, 3rd
edition, are both required texts for this course; it will be
necessary for you to bring them to lab, so you must possess
a copy of each. You will also need a copy of the Biology
220 Laboratory Manual, available in the Bookstore. It
will alsobe helpful for you
to bring a copy of Campbell to class. The Interactive Study
Guide CD contains exercises that you may find useful in
reviewing the material. In addition, a selection of articles
has been placed on reserve. Those that are assigned reading
for this section are listed below.
