It is assumed that the antisense oligonucleotides for Tbx2mRNA will block the function of the sense mRNA thus inhibiting production of the functional transcription factor protein. If Tbx2is involved in whisker pad development, the lack of gene signaling caused by the blocking of the sense mRNA should produce morphological changes in the whisker pads.
