All citizens and especially those in leadership positions and school boards have the capacity for moral decisions and therefore are accountable. Leaders taking the “Citizen Responsible” approach to improvement, engage in many types of citizenship development and citizen engagement that results in institutions and systems worthy of honoring and celebrating. “Citizen Responsible” leadership build personal character and give opportunity to all stakeholders to build character through the Personally Responsible Citizenship approach. Leadership also develops relationships, trust and common understanding through Participatory Citizenship. The ability to analyze and understand the complex interplay between social, economic and political forces is made practical through Justice Oriented Citizenship. All types of approaches are strengthened in all actions and processes.
