Effects of cyclopamine on zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos

Laura Twichell, Swarthmore College

Objective

This experiment will investigate the effects of cyclopamine, a sonic hedgehog inhibitor, on the development of zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos through treatment of embryos at 30% epiboly and observation of ensuing development. Microscopic photography will be used to identify developmental abnormalities, specifically in the left-right axis, eye formation, and truncation, all of which cyclopamine, by way of sonic hedgehog inhibition, is thought to influence.
